The objectives of the Software Planning Process are defined in the DO 178B Table A-1. There are seven objectives for the software planning process and the applicability of the objective depends on the software level.

For example, Objective #1 in the below table is applicable for Software Level – A, B, C, and D. But, Objective #2 is only applicable for Software level – A, B, and C. There are no objectives defined for Level-E software in DO 178B.
